'Vacancy Studies' provides the world of architecture with an optimistic perspective on the temporary reuse of vacancy. Bunkers, forts, churches, castles, hospitals, water-towers, post offices, prisons, palaces and airports are some examples. According to RAAAF (Rietveld Architecture-Art-Affordances) these public and government buildings offer enormous potential, the extent of which was visualised by their 'Vacant NL' installation at the 2010 Venice Architecture Biennale.
