Most of the photographs featured in this edition were taken in the streets of Ikebukuro (Toshima, Tokyo) and adjacent areas. Having usually dedicated the bulk of his daily activities to Shinjuku, Daido Moriyama never gave much thought to Ikebukuro, or even bothered to go there, until ten years ago when he moved into a flat in the area. But it was only recently, in 2013, that his interest in this area of the city was truly sparked by a chance picture he made. The images presented here are the result of Moriyama’s prowling around his home turf for more than a year.
