Since his first visit inside the arctic circle in 1997 Naoki Ishikawa has returned intermittently, fascinated by the indigenous populations and their surroundings. The photographer has noticed the dramatic environmental changes that are taking place and threatening the traditional culture and knowledge, along with the lifestyles of these peoples. The poetic, full-coloured photographs presented here, taken in Norway and Alaska, tell a number of distinct and very different stories about two fragile and interdependent existences.
