Although trained as a painter and draughtsman, David Claerbout is best known for the video work he composes in his own studio, where he turns thousands of stills and scans into slowly moving films that often test the endurance of his audience. In this first catalogue of his oeuvre, Claebout’s film and video projects are subjected to serious analysis on the basis of production photos, design sketches and depictions of installations. The book features essays by Ziba Ardalan, Ingrid Hoelzl and Dirk Snauwaert, alongside over 300 colour images.
