This book is positioned in the time between the opening of the Japan Pavilion exhibition at the Venice Biennale (May 2019) and its later homecoming at the Artizon Museum in Tokyo (April 2020). It thus reflects upon the presentation in Venice and related events. One of the most discerning features of ‘Cosmo-Eggs’ is that it emerged from diverse backgrounds, a collective of members who collaborated with each other as a single team. Just how the intentions and interests of the collective’s individual members have been reflected and integrated in the exhibition is therefore examined from a slight distance, accompanied by texts which contemplate contemporary art in a wider sense.
