Madrid has had a special relationship with its river, the Manzanares. Madrid’s successive waves of population and infrastructure growth transformed the Manzanares river bed into more of a spatial fracture in the pattern of the metropolis than a living element of the city. From 2007 to 2011 an urban transformation has been carried out with the course of the Manzanares through the city as its backbone. The result is that Madrid once again has a river. This edition offers us a view of the transformation that the MadridRío project has involved, with texts, images and drawings.
