Almost 40 designers, visual artists and students of the Academy of Pop Culture in Leeuwarden, the capital of Fryslân, were involved in a project to map the identity and character of this northern province of the Netherlands. What does it mean to live in Fryslân today? How is the past represented in the future? Lead by graphic designer Annelys de Vet, publisher of several books concerning the representation of cultural and national identity, the contributors have gathered a selection of images from a wide cross-section of topics that works towards exposing the current soul of Fryslân. With many infographics, photos, artworks and more, plus an introduction by Max Bruinsma.
