“The Givenchy Files” reproduces graphic works inspired by the collections of Italian fashion designer Riccardo Tisci. Presented by M/M (Paris), the art and design partnership of Mathias Augustyniak and Michaël Amzalag, the pieces were created by invitation of Tisci for Givenchy shows and advertising campaigns. In his foreword, Olivier Zahm asserts that these artworks, “dark, tortured, mysterious, erotic, surrealistic, are a sort of thumbing of the nose at current fashion images.” Through a deconstruction and subordination of the omnipresent and impotent creative direction in the world of high fashion, M/M (Paris) succeeds in bringing a fresh, illuminative character to its work.
